The book Inside Macintosh: QuickTime Conferencing is included on this CD-ROM in Adobe Acrobat™ portable document format. The file "IM-QuickTime Conferencing.pdf" contains the full text of the book. You can read or print this document using the Acrobat Exchange LE software included on this disc, or any software capable of opening PDF files.
For your convenience, this PDF file is indexed for quick search and retrieval of any word or phrase. To use this feature, you must install Acrobat Exchange LE. The Acrobat Reader program that is sometimes provided on other Apple CD-ROM products does not include the search engine necessary for indexed searching.
Installing Exchange LE
1. Open the Acrobat folder in the Documentation folder on the QuickTime Conferencing Beta II CDROM.
2. Write down the following serial number, or use the Copy command to copy it to the clipboard.
You will need this serial number to install the software.
The Acrobat Exchange LE serial number you are licensed to use for purposes of viewing the
documentation on this CD-ROM is: ANW200B3100045-050-955
3. Open the "Disk 1" folder inside the "Acrobat Exchange LE 2.0.1" folder and double-click the
Installer icon.
4. Read the license agreement and click the Accept button if you wish to continue.
5. Choose Easy Install and click the Install button to continue. Do not use Custom Install because
it may not install the proper fonts and resources for your system configuration.
6. Type or paste the serial number when requested by the Installer.
Using the Indexed Search Capability
1. After you have installed Acrobat Exchange LE successfully, Open the Inside Mac—QT Conferencing folder in the
Documentation folder on the QuickTime Conferencing Beta II CDROM.
2. Double-click on the "IM-QuickTime Conferencing.pdf" document to launch Exchange LE.
3. Click on the Search tool icon in the menu bar to display the Search dialog box.
The Search tool looks like a pair of binoculars with a page of text behind them.
You can also choose Search->Query from the Tools menu or press Command-Shift-F.
4. Click the Indexes... button in the Search dialog box to display the Index Selection dialog box.
You can also open the dialog box by choosing Search->Indexes... from the Tools menu
or pressing Command-Shift-X.
5. Add the QuickTime Conferencing index to the list of selected indexes by clicking on the Add...
button and selecting the file "IMQTC.PDX" located in the "IM-QTC Index" folder. Click on the
OK button to close the dialog box.
6. Type a word or phrase in the Search dialog box, and click the Search button.
7. Click the View button in the Search Results dialog box to view the first occurrence of the word.
8. Click the Search Next tool icon or type Command-U to view the next occurrence.
Getting Help
You can get general help for Exchange LE and specific help for Acrobat Search by selecting the appropriate item from the AppleGuide or BalloonHelp menu on the right side of the menu bar. You can also get help by opening the appropriate PDF file in the Acrobat Help folder.
